My friend is a huge liar but he's drunk and telling me he's trying to kill himself should I call the cops?

He's 16 years old so I don't want to call the cops and get him in trouble for underage drinking if it's nothing, and usually he lies a lot about stupid things but he says he killed his cat and is trying to kill himself but he's so intoxicated he can't really move. He can talk pretty well, I'm on the phone with him, but he's saying things like "Why is there blood everywhere???" and "There's glass in my foot." and I'm not sure how much he's making up. He's my friend and we used to be really close but he scares me sometimes and I don't want him to know I called the cops (if I do) because I don't want to break his trust and have that throw him over the edge and potentially put myself in danger. He's really depressed. What should I do?
