Can someone explain to me why my blood pressure lowers when I drink excessive amounts of alcohol?

I am a habitual drinker unfortunately. Although I am not an alcoholic since I have a strong will to control it, when I drink I do so excessively. After purchasing a blood pressure monitor, I decided to do an experiment. I've monitored my blood pressure throughout the day both sober and intoxicated. Come to find out, my blood pressure and pulse are lower when I drink vs when I don't! After drinking six lagers, my blood pressure is 124/83 which is normal. When I was sober 8 hours ago it was 144/101! Also, my pulse went down 10 beats per min from 101 to 91. Does this make any sense to anyone? I do realize that alcohol is a depressant but many medical sites online state the opposite should be happening. I would greatly appreciate any insight. Thanx!

I felt very stupid when I accidentally hit the other vehicle from the front side while backing up in the parking lot. I have a cat that is massively underweight and has kidney cancer, so the more high calorie food he eats the better. I know others have the opposite problem: a healthy cat that needs a diet. I read that the average for a cat is 15-30 cal per pound of body weight, but the cans, dry food, and treats all measure in kcals. I vaguely remember from food chemisty class that 1 kcal of energy = .001 cals, but I read that it's the opposite (1 kcal = 1,000 "label" nutritional calories) and that kcals and calories are the same/interchangeable when it comes to pet food. I am mostly interested in tracking how much my cat eats per day (more is always better for him), but I know the real conversion would help a lot of other people with overweight cats too. Does anyone know the real conversion? Does it vary between brands of food? Does the conversion factor in how much just passes through his system undigested (there are 2 measurements on each can of food)? My husband and I have no debt, no children, and we still rent meaning we have no home loan. We are in our mid twenties and want to travel. Vegas and Hawaii are easy being we live in America. Singing range after puberty?

A lot of my friends and I are very curious about this. So I am 16, I had this high kiddy voice till about 14, then my voice really dropped. Now I can hit the really low notes, but the high ones do not feel as comfortable. My voice has a very deep undertone, but still sounds like a kid (that's the best way to describe it). Most of my friends that are my age have this same problem as well. Now I have an 18 year old friend who sings, and is done with puberty, and has a great range. Also, many of the bands I listen have singers that are about 20, such as a day to remember, blink 182, and four year strong. I know that NOW these signers are older, but plenty of the recordings and live videos i listen to they were in their early 20's, and could sing quite high. So what I am wondering is, after puberty, will my voice settle, and 'll regain the easier upper register i used to have. I know it wont be like my kiddie voice, but at least a better range again???

My family has encouraged him to get help about 3 times this year. He says he has a problem and should probably get help and then does nothing about it. It seems to be getting worse. I told him this morning that this was not normal behavior to be skipping breakfast and drinking 3 shots of vodka instead. I told him I loved him and that I don't want him to get hurt by this behavior. My family is going to try to talk to him about it as a group soon but I'm not sure how much good that will do. I am very worried about him and I am wondering what kind of action my family and I should take to address this problem. Is pioneer harness and kenwood harness the same for the radios?

Basically what happened is she had been struggling with alcohol/drug abuse. She 'went off the wagon' in 2005 and lived in a townhouse area that had a pool area. She had gotten very intoxicated, passed out and found out that during this, a 15 yr old boy, took advantage of her sexually. He bragged about screwing an older woman, which, at the time my daughter was 30 yrs. of age with a two year old. He bragged about this to his therapist. This young man had a delinquent record himself. His therapist reported this to the Colorado police and my daughter was arrested. Before her arrest she came back home to Illinois because she realized that she needed family support to help her with her addiction and to be a good mom to her child. While in IL, she was arrested and never realized she had a warranty out for her arrest. She was in Cook County jail and extradited to Colorado for her sentencing. She plead guilty because she did not want to lose her child. Her sentence was 4 yrs probation and 10 yrs of sexual offender registration. She completed her probation without any incidents, followed requests to attend drug/alcohol abuse classes, sought psychological therapy. She registers yearly at Il police dept, as required. This last time she went to register she noticed that form indicated her as being a sexual predator and was told she would have to register for LIFE. This is due to Illinois having to match up their laws to Colorado and Illinois considers her predator of criminal sexual abuse. This is not what she plead guilty to in original conviction. She unfortunately got caught up in a situation that she is not. This young man took advantage of her in a passed out state and due to age difference, he got off "scott free" and she is paying for his mistake. She is not a criminal and also not a sexual predator. She just wants to serve her 10 registration which was to have ended in 5 more years and be able to enjoy going to her childs school plays, take her to a park and just be a 'normal' mom and do 'normal' mom things. She is a single mom. Any thoughts out there of how she may be able to fight this 'registering for life-sex predator' status?

My girlfriends brother was throwing rocks at her dog (animal abuse) and she told him to stop. Well this angered him so he threw a rock at her and hit her in the leg with it. After she tried a second time to get away from him, he threw rocks at her (projecting a deadly missile i believe). The officer also told her it was a family problem and it just needed to be settled by her mom, and that if she would arrest anyone it would be my girlfriend. He has threatened to kill her and my family and me as well as their mom before numerous times. 3 Month Probation on Job?

I have very recently got hired and they placed me on the 3 month probation period. At first, all was well, i had no problem. But my grandmother caught a stroke and is unresponsive... Please Help Me!! Life and Death situation?

Ok so the other day I was having dinner by myself and had a little wine with it(2 glasses at very most). Three hours later, I swear it was this long, I had just received VERY upsetting news and decided on a whim to take a trip from LA to Santa Barbara. I did not feel any intoxication whatsoever at this point. I was devastated by the news I received which caused me to bawl my eyes out the entire way to SB. So I made it all the way to Santa Barbara and was pulled over for putting my blinker on too late before turning. The cop has me follow her finger, which I do fine. She has me get out of my vehicle and do all the sobriety tests. I walk the line and raise my foot and am completely competent throughout all of this. The male cop that is also there looks at her and says... she seems fine? And she kept looking at him to be the judge and he was like you're the one doing it? Anyway so then she asks if I will do the breathalyzer, which of course, I know that I am not drunk by any means, so I agree to. I end up blowing a .081. I am completely baffled and so is the male cop. The lady says I'm under arrest and puts me in her car. She then tells me I am allowed to do a blood test which I say I definitely want to do. I keep reading conflicting information about whether blood test will register lower BAC or not but my god I wasn't drunk it had been close to five hours since my wine at this point. So currently I am awaiting the results of the blood test and praying to jesus, buddah, just everybody that it comes back under .08. I am a full time college student that also works full time and I can't afford any of this or to tell my parents. The thought of them finding out causes me to want to immediately commit suicide. To be completely honest, if I get convicted, I will HAVE to kill myself...there will be no way out. All I have been doing is researching everything there is to know about DUI cases/methods of suicide. If you had my parents you'd be in the same boat. I need help you guys please help me this is the worst thing that could've ever happened. I would never get in a car after being intoxicated.. So if my blood test comes back over .08, I'm opting for the Public Defender because like I said I work my constantly and all of my money goes to rent, food, gas and school. To be honest I'd go for option 1, it's true that you won't be able to get a decent car for a while but it's more important to be debt-free. If you need a car you can always use public transport for a few weeks until you get enough money or buy a small used car that's really cheap but is enough to at least get you to your destination. Besides, having credit-card debt reflects badly on your credit score so of you've got debt it will be harder to buy your new car with a loan or monthly installments (it's better to pay your debts before buying the car). As your your parents finding out, well they will find out that you're without a car anyway so might as well just get the debt over and done with, if you spread out your payments across several months (apart from having to pay interest) your parents will almost surely get to know.

Here is a little background: I've returned to school as a full-time student and I currently have the summer off. it all started like this, my 17 yr old son and i got into an argument and he lied to the police and told them that i threw lighter fluid on him just because i didn't want him to go out (in DE. the curfew for teens is 10:00 p.m. it was a little after 10. and he still didn't take his meds, he's got ADHD and he always refuses to take his meds so we got into a fight and he pushed me down twice! i only had had ONE beer that night so i wasn't intoxicated. he is just a hot tempered kid and he's very disrespectful towards my mother who told him the week before "don't come home next weekend!" but he showed up anyway. he's scared of his father (who's a prison guard) and he lies to his father alot! now what do i do? and i'm also facing endangering the welfare of a child, my 12 yr old daughter just came down the steps, she heard alot of yelling but she didn't see what was going on but the cops were asking her questions i don't know what they were asking her though because i was already in the back of the police car headed downtown what do i do? what is the best way to answer?

The other day I was having dinner by myself and had a little wine with it(2 glasses at very most). I did not feel any intoxication whatsoever at this point. I was devastated by the news I received which caused me to bawl my eyes out the entire way to SB. So I made it all the way to Santa Barbara and was pulled over for putting my blinker on too late before turning. The cop has me follow her finger, which I do fine. She has me get out of my vehicle and do all the sobriety tests. I walk the line and raise my foot and am completely competent throughout all of this. The male cop that is also there looks at her and says... she seems fine? And she kept looking at him to be the judge and he was like you're the one doing it? Anyway so then she asks if I will do the breathalyzer, which of course, I know that I am not drunk by any means, so I agree to. I end up blowing a .081. I am completely baffled and so is the male cop. The lady says I'm under arrest and puts me in her car. She then tells me I am allowed to do a blood test which I say I definitely want to do. I keep reading conflicting information about whether blood test will register lower BAC or not but my god I wasn't drunk it had been close to five hours since my wine at this point. So currently I am awaiting the results of the blood test and praying to jesus, buddah, just everybody that it comes back under .08. I am a full time college student that also works full time and I can't afford any of this or to tell my parents. The thought of them finding out causes me to want to immediately commit suicide. I would never be able to tell anyone this in real life. All I have been doing is researching everything there is to know about DUI cases/methods of suicide. If you had my parents you'd be in the same boat. I need help you guys please help me this is the worst thing that could've ever happened. I would never get in a car after being intoxicated.. So if my blood test comes back over .08, I'm opting for the Public Defender because like I said I work my constantly and all of my money goes to rent, food, gas and school. This wasn't a case of getting trashed at a club then jumping in my car without a second thought. I don't even party let alone hardly ever drink and I've never driven in the car with a drunk driver or been the driver. This was a situation where I rationally didn't at all suspect I was impaired by any means. I just turned 21 three months ago. 2 weeks ago I was getting ready for bed, my husband was in the field (he is a farmer) it was approx. 11pm our daughter was in the next room watching tv. I layed down to start to read and all of a sudden I started to cry uncontrolably I reached for my cell and called my husband. I told him that for some reason I was freaking out and that I knew that I was going to die tonight, he told me that I wasn't. I said he knew what he had to do that he had to help me pray that I didn't know the prayer. He was confused as to what prayer I meant. I just kept saying that I'm going to die, he needs to pray with me that I couldn't remember the rest of the prayer. While in the room I was laying in the bed there was something standing at the door he was telling me that I needed to get out of the bed and onto my knees and start praying because he was going to cross over me and take my soul. I continued to get hysterical on the phone with my husband because I couldn't remember the prayer, I just kept telling him that It was time that I was going to die and that I could see death in the room, then all of a sudden I could see start to turn and I could feel that he was changing is course and going after my husband and then I really became hysterical I grabbed our baby out of her bed ran upstairs (still on the phone) screaming that someone had to help me with the prayer because my husband was going to die (my inlaws where upstairs) I kept screaming that they had to help me with the prayer because we are catholic and you had to say the prayer before you die. While crying and screaming hystarically all of a sudden the wind was knocked out of me and I went into shock. They took the phone from me. My husband came home immediatly and my son came home also. They put me bed and for the next few days I just felt out of sorts. I don't know exactly what happened that Friday night, but if that is a glimse of what hell is I am terrified. No, I wouldn't say so. My old rat, Celsius, did the exact same thing except she sneezed a bit more then that. I believe it is the pine bedding doing it, because I got her from a store where they use pine, and after she got home with new Carefresh bedding, the sneezing reduced a bit, but never really stopped. But my little Celsius lived quite a normal life span and normal life, and died of a tumor and old age. She was about 4-5.
