How do I set up my flat screen tv?

Umm, hi, i had to move all the sudden to my moms cuz my dad is in jail for DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) and I just came back home from school one day, and the phone rang, it was my mom, and she said my dad was going to be in prison until I graduate high school. So I got all my stuff and moved 1 month before the last day of school. 1 of my things is a flat screen tv. the brand is W. How do I set up HDMI? And when I watch movies on my DVD player or play games on my Wii, the color is messed up. Everything thats supposed to be blue is green, and everything green is blue. I tried adjusting the brightness and etc. but it still wont work. Can you help me on that too? Thanks.
